Attractions on the Biebrza Marshland

What can you find? What can you see?

Welcome to my home, a warm home-like atmosphere on the edge of the marshes, located in a small wooden village – Gugny. Due to the unavailability of the mythical swamp in the Biebrza National Park, our farm is quiet and peaceful and fully organic.

Around the house attractions is no end. Unique bogs with a wealth of birds. This is one of the best preserved ecosystems in Europe and it is right on the doorstep. Observation tower is 300 meters from house, it is set in a place where you can observe moose, deer, snipe or cranes mating dances. However, it is pretty quiet, you can hear the evening woodcock roading (Scolopax rusticola), owls, and in the morning the common cranes’ trumpeting call.

If you arrive in the spring will see the biggest sea of flowers that only nature could create and countless species of birds arriving. If you do not dawns Polish variety of orchid varieties that might be interested in the unique richness of ruffs (Philomachus pugnax) breeding plumage.

If you arrive in the summer, you can watch unique the aquatic warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola), or stonechat (Saxicola rubicola), and if you start your birding adventure you will hear the amazing sound of the male common snipe (Gallinago gallinago) diving and producing a characteristic sound as the air flows over specially modified feathers of the tail.

If you arrive in the autumn observe the amazing journey of moose from the swamp to the forest because probably you can not have enough patience to watch the beavers build their lodges, you can also catch last sunny days under the old apple tree. In the evening you can sit around a bonfire and exchange enchanting stories.

If you come in winter you meet a moose in the forest when they bite young pines, with a little patience you will see ermine or otter. But I also invite you to the house: on a baking gingerbread cookies, or to make the gingerbread house during cold day.
